In 2017, a very memorable chapter began for the JSJ Band—our regular performances at Tobu Hotel in Kawagoe, Saitama, for their Oldies & Disco Night, held once every three months.
How It All Started
At that time, we regularly played every Saturday at Live Cafe Jammin’ in Kawagoe. One evening, a customer approached me and asked if I could sing somewhere else.
My immediate answer was, “No, I’ll only sing if my whole band can come with me.” A few days later, we had a band meeting, and our band leader told us that we had been invited to perform at Tobu Hotel! We later found out that the person who had approached me was actually a hotel staff member. He spoke with our band leader, and as it turned out, they were about the same age. Our leader gave him the same answer I had given: if I was going to sing, the entire JSJ Band had to be there.
Because we stood together as a band, the hotel created a new Saturday schedule for us, while the previous band continued performing on Sundays.
Happy Memories:
Every Oldies & Disco Night was such a fun and exciting experience!
Full House: Sometimes we had as many as 150 guests attending and making reservations.
Buffet & Good Vibes: There was always delicious food and such a lively, happy atmosphere.
1950s Style: One of my favorite things was seeing the guests dressed in beautiful 1950s rockabilly-style dresses, dancing and enjoying the music.
A Heartfelt Thank You. I’m truly grateful to all our friends who were always there to help us carry our instruments and amplifiers, and to take photos for us.
From 2017 to 2020, the love and support we received from our audience gave us so much energy and inspiration. Those years gave us many wonderful memories that I will always treasure.
These days, I’m busy with my YouTube channels and my Just Odet homepage, but my Saturday gigs at the livehouse are still one of my favorite ways to relax and spend time with my bandmates and friends. Performing on stage can be tiring, but the joy of singing, playing music, and being together makes all the stress disappear. 🎶❤️
